Vintage Bear Bell Pull Toy by Watrous, later called Gong Bell Mfg. Co.

Description

This is a great old vintage Teddy Bear Bell toy by Watrous which later was sold to Gong Bell Mfg Co.  in 1923.  Is all original.  The string wrapped around the base of the wooden handle has always been there as long as I've had the toy.  Have never unwrapped to see what is under.  Possibly it could have come with a string pull and the wooden handle was added for ease of pulling or pushing.  Just speculating.  Paint on the bear is exceptional for its age.  Much of the toy had a nickel or copper wash finish, so when highlighting and paint were later added, it produced a beautiful iridescent quality.  Bells need polishing as they are rust speckled.  Wheels are of nickle plated steel, a bit loose.
