Romanian Battlefield Pickup Dong Wood Handguard Set With Gas tube
Came from one set, good *used surplus* condition. Typical dents/dings/scratches/ect to be expected from Combloc Surplus
Good overall shape, notice the crack/split in the upper handguard and “cut/notch” in the lower. The upper is functionally fine and will work issue, but you may pinch your hand by accident if you’re not careful. Can be left as is, fixed/reconnected with an epoxy/glue or just replaced.
The lower is also in good surplus condition but notice the flaking shellac (I assume it’s shellac) finish and the notch/cut. Finish flaking is normal and expected and all the wear that comes with surplus furniture. The notch doesn’t weaken the handguard and will work just fine, just another battle scar.
*Better yet you can use your imagination to think of ways it could have happened. Two drunk Romanian conscripts in the barracks fighting with bayonets? Hand to hand combat in an eastern bloc conflict that we in the west didn’t even know occurred? Quite frankly the world is your oyster!*
Can be filled and sanded in if you’re not the creative type so no worries there.
