Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation Metal Desk Model Airplane - Posed Globally in Flight.Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation Aluminum Metal Desk Top Display Model Airplane With Metal Stand -
This model is shown in flight over part of the world. (from Wikipedia:) Kelly Johnson contributed to the design for the entire family of Lockheed Constellations. Howard Hughes was a prime customer for Lockheed in the 1940's. Hughes outlined the initial performance specifications, but it was Lockheed that would design the sleek, distinctive aircraft. It was a critical turning point for Lockheed.
In 1950, Lockheed repurchased the
XC-69 Constellation
prototype from the
Hughes Tool Company
. Lockheed lengthened XC-69 by 18 feet (5.5 m), to become the basis for the L-1049 Super Constellation. The aircraft first flew later that year still fitted with R-2800 engines, then was refitted with R-3350 956-C18CA-1 engines with jet stacks for slightly increased thrust. Later modifications included strengthened landing gear and larger vertical stabilizers.
Eastern Air Lines
ordered 10 aircraft, while
Trans World Airlines
(TWA) followed with an order for 14. The Lockheed Super Constellation (Connie) was top of the line for its time.
This model is supposedly made from recycled aircraft aluminum. I cannot verify that, but I know the metal airplane is not steel and is probably aluminum. The wingspan is approx. 10". Nose to tail is approx. 8". It stands approx. 7" high. As best I can tell the base tag (photos 6 & 7) reads

(Authentic Models?)
2008 No.3348.
It is a beauty.
For cost effectiveness and speed of delivery it will be shipped priority mail in three major pieces as shown in photos 9 and 10. All four original screws are included. It is simple to put the sturdy model back together.
