Description
The L-188 Electra is a turboprop airliner built by Lockheed Corporation. First flown in 1957, it was the first large turboprop airliner built in the United States. With it's unique high power-to-weight ratio, Allison 501-D13 engines with huge propellers, very short wings, large Fowler flaps which significantly increased effective wing area when deployed, the Electra had aircraft performance capabilities unmatched by many jet aircraft. Many models are still in use today in the freighter and firefighting arenas.Northwest Airlines was a major American airline that was founded in 1926. It flew as Northwest until 2010, when the airline livery was changed to Delta Airlines due to the Northwest / Delta merger. The airline was headquartered in Eagan, Minnesota which was close to the Minneapolis / St. Paul International Airport.
This 1:200 scale die-cast Hobby Master reproduction of the Northwest Airlines Electra is a rare, very detailed, out of production model. The box has minor shelf wear. All sales are final. Shipping to the Continental USA only.
NOTE:
An internet search will prove this is a very rare and difficult model to find. The original owner attempted to repair the front landing gear and did a terrible job. They also left a finger smudge of what appears to be glue near the rear passenger door (as can be seen in the photographs). I ordered a new set of landing gear from Hobby Master, and will leave it up to the purchaser to attempt the repair. The model also does NOT have a display stand. This is the only one available.
